Wendy Andersen has been practicing yoga since 1995 and teaching yoga for almost 30 years. In 2002, Wendy left her career as a corporate litigation attorney to open Shine Yoga Center in Hyde Park, one of Cincinnati's original yoga studios. Wendy is a lifelong student of mindful movement, meditation, philosophy, and spirituality. Beyond yoga, she has explored Buddhism, Taoism, Tai Chi/QiGong, Reiki, Tarot, non-dual meditation, primal nutrition, purpose guiding, shamanism, nature-based wisdom, body rolling, breathwork, energy healing, mythology, and more. After many years of devoted study and practice, Wendy weaves elements of these various streams into her teaching, offering experiences that are rich in non-dual teachings, energetic awareness, self-compassion, and gratitude for this gift of life. How do I get to Groesbeck Estate?
Groesbeck Estate is located at our Rowe Woods location in Milford, OH. Once you go through the Gatehouse, take your first right onto Groesbeck Drive and follow that all the way down the hill. The Groesbeck Estate is the large, Tudor-style home. The parking lot is just past the building. Our Gatehouse staff can help direct you if you have never been to the Groesbeck before.

Yes, there is plenty of free parking at the Groesbeck Estate. The parking lot is just past the building.
What should I wear?
Come dressed for a day of exercise and movement. This includes: stretching, walking, standing, sitting, etc. While nothing we are doing will be overly strenuous, we will moving our bodies quite a bit and want everyone to come dressed comfortably. We strongly recommend packing a lot of layers- raincoats, extra socks, a sweatshirt, a spare pair of shoes in case you get muddy, etc. We cannot predict what the April weather will bring, but we will spend time outdoors regardless, so come prepared for rain, cold, heat, mud, etc.
What can I bring with me?
First things first, please bring a yoga mat. We will have some extras on hand for those who may not own one. Otherwise, please bring anything you need to be comfortable for the entire day. You are welcome to store belongings in the Groesbeck Estate throughout the day (this will be our home base). This is included but not limited to: a backpack, snacks, beverages (no alcohol!), any medications you may need, a towel (if you get wet or sweaty), extra layers, etc.
What happens if it rains or snows?
We will embrace the weather, rain or shine! While our home base for the day will be indoors at the Groesbeck Estate, we will shift from being indoors to outdoors frequently, so bundle up and bring lots of layers and anything you need to be comfortable outside in the springtime (raincoats, rain boots, extra socks, layers, etc.). In the event of inclement or unsafe weather (high winds, lightning, etc.), we will pivot and spend more time indoors.
How difficult will be the sessions be? What if I'm not in great shape?
This retreat is meant to be an inclusive, welcoming day that is appropriate for all fitness and skill levels. Our instructors are highly trained in the art of "meeting people where they are." While we hope to challenge everyone a little bit, the overall vibe will be beginner-friendly. If you have a physical limitation or are just not comfortable doing a certain pose, stretch, or activity, please let us know. We want everyone to feel comfortable and will do everything in our power to accommodate all participants.

What about my dietary restrictions?
Lunch will be 100% plant-based, gluten, dairy, and peanut-free friendly (but definitely not taste-free!). Thus, lunch will accommodate just about every allergy. We will also provide snacks and beverages (trail mix, chips, fruit, sparkling water, etc.) throughout the day. We cannot promise these snacks will be free of all allergens. So, if you have a food allergy, we recommend packing your own snacks.
