Rules for Visiting Cincinnati Nature Center

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. Please use caution while visiting.

Statewide Mask Order and Visiting the Nature Center

On July 23, 2020, Governor DeWine issued a statewide mask mandate, requiring individuals to wear facial coverings in public at all times. This means Cincinnati Nature Center visitors must wear a mask:

  • Inside all indoor facilities (Rowe Visitor Center, Krippendorf Lodge, Groesbeck Estate, restrooms).
  • Outdoors, when unable to maintain a six-foot distance from people who are not members of your household. We recognize that our trails are not more than six feet wide. To comply with regulations and to safeguard everyone’s experience, everyone must mask up when passing others on our trails.

Here are some other ways you can help maintain physical distancing:

  • Step Aside: When encountering others on a trail, please respect one another by pulling up your mask and stepping aside. You can do this on most trails easily while still staying on the trails. If you must go off trail, be careful of the wildlife and plants–especially the three-leaves of poison ivy!
  • Announce Yourself: If you wish to pass another person, please announce yourself and your intentions so that other person may move out of your way.
  • Avoid Group Gatherings: Walk in groups of 10 or fewer and distance your group six feet from others at pavilions, picnic areas, and all other spaces.

Restrictions in Place

  • At Rowe Woods, restrooms are available at the Nature PlayScape and at the Rowe Visitor Center. All other restrooms on that property remain closed. At Long Branch Farm & Trails, restrooms are open.
  • Water fountains remain turned off.
  • Benches and picnic tables are available, however, when you are near others who are not members of your household, you must maintain at least six feet of space. Only groups of 10 or fewer may sit in close proximity.
  • Please pack-in/pack-out.

For the safety and courtesy of all

  • If you are sick, stay home.
  • Wash hands or use hand sanitizer before and after your visit.
  • Dogs are allowed, but you must abide by all current pet rules.
  • Grounds may close if unsafe weather conditions arise.
  • Gate opens at 8 am and is locked at 7:30 pm at the exit for security.

The health and safety of our members, volunteers, and staff is our first priority. Mandates and recommendations from government officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may change our ability to follow this new limited opening plan. If we find that guests are not following appropriate physical distancing or other guidelines, we may be forced to completely close. Please check our website and social media sites for any changes or updates.
