Welcome to the Marge & Charles Schott Nature PlayScape, where natural features are designed for open-ended creative play. Plants, soil, and water can be touched and manipulated, not just observed, to stimulate the senses and promote a sense of wonder. Picnic on the grass or relax on a bench while your children play. We ask that you remain in the Nature PlayScape and be responsible for your children at all times. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the Nature PlayScape.

The stream has operated as part of the Nature PlayScape since opening in 2011.  It was included in the review and approval process by our county governing authority, who considered it a water feature. Approved enhancements were also made in 2015 to meet the demands of growing visitation. Filtration capacity was increased and ultraviolet sterilization was added. This provided a safe water experience without a chemical sanitation that could negatively impact the plants and animals around stream. Water quality was regularly tested by a county lab to ensure a safe play experience.

We were recently advised that the permitting process for the Nature PlayScape stream is now handled at the state level, and we must re-permit the stream as new construction, and meet the criteria of a commercial swimming pool. This would require a number of changes, including removal of native plants along stream, removal of rocks and logs, and chemical sanitation.  We are working with the state to identify possible alternatives, but the process will take some time.

While our recirculated stream is off, we're offering our visitors a variety of fun and cooling alternatives in the Nature PlayScape, including misters and sprinklers. We'll continue to provide safe and fun opportunities for nature play for all ages and welcome your feedback on our new play options.
