EDUCATOR CREDIT

Join Us for New Member Hikes!

Welcome to our nature community! Cincinnati Nature Center offers two excellent experiences for those who want to learn more about Rowe Woods, our primary location in Milford, or Long Branch Farm & Trails, our members-only location in Goshen. These hikes are perfect for new members but all members are welcome. Attending one of these hikes allows you to gain an insider's scoop on what Cincinnati Nature Center does best. These hikes are offered seasonally, March – October.

Important Information:

  • These programs are tailored for adults.
  • Preregistration is required.
  • Leave your dog at home. Dogs are not allowed in public programs.
  • Take note of all current COVID-19 Policies & Procedures.

Cincinnati Nature Center will run advertised programs and events ​in accordance with current guidelines outlined by the CDC and local health agencies. The status or format of programs may change based on COVID-19 best practices and conditions at the time of the program. 

Unvaccinated people, including children kindergarten and up, are required to wear masks while inside all facilities (for example, Rowe Visitor Center, restroom, etc.). Masks are not required outdoors.

Community Membership

Cincinnati Nature Center’s award-winning hiking trails and unique educational resources can support and nurture your own community! Community Membership provides convenience and affordability for organizations that regularly bring clients to the Nature Center for exercise, inspiration, and engagement.

Our Community Membership will allow your organization to visit as often as you’d like for an entire year. It allows access for up to 12 people per visit, allowing different people to visit each time.

Community Membership is available by application only. Types of qualifying organizations may include:

  • Developmental centers

Membership Policies

Why Membership?

Cincinnati Nature Center is a private, nonprofit organization. We do not receive city, county, or state funds. We rely on the support of our members.

Sales are final.

Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Memberships are immediately active upon purchase.

Your membership activates immediately upon purchase. Please allow two (2) weeks for receipt of your membership card(s) in the mail. You may visit before cards are received by providing gatehouse staff your name and a valid photo ID. If you do not receive your membership within two weeks, please contact the Membership Office at membership@cincynature.org or (513) 965-4893.

About membership pricing and benefits.

Pricing and benefits are effective February 1, 2021. Cincinnati Nature Center reserves the right to alter member benefits and levels.

Memberships are designed for one household only. We kindly ask that you refrain from sharing it with others.

Member Privacy.

The privacy of our members is important to us. Cincinnati Nature Center does NOT share, sell, or trade your name, address, phone number, email address, or giving history with any person or business.

Right to Revoke.

Cincinnati Nature Center is a member organization committed to respecting our environment and one another. If we find that a member does not respect our environment, our rules, or others, then we reserve the right to revoke their membership without refund.

Member Dog Registration

Cincinnati Nature Center has a member dog registration process. We record all dogs and owners on the property daily to enable us to react in an emergency. If you think you may visit with your dog(s), please register your dog(s) by using this online form. Thank you!

Check out the latest edition of Newsleaf on your tablet, e-reader, smartphone or personal computer! Throughout the year, we'll email members the link to the digital edition of Newsleaf as it is published quarterly.

We'll continue to mail the paper Newsleaf to your door, but if you wish to help reduce our carbon footprint, email our Membership Department at membership@cincynature.org and write that you would like DIGITAL NEWSLEAF ONLY.

Digital Member Cards -- COMING SOON!

Cincinnati Nature Center will be offering digital member cards beginning in early October. Stay tuned for more information!

When you join or renew, you get to choose a Digital Member Card or a Plastic Member Card. When you opt for digital, we will send you an email that allows you to download your digital member card to your smartphone. Members should receive this email within five business days.

Going digital means:

  • You’ll never have to worry about forgetting your member card.
  • You’ll get your member card sooner. You don’t have to wait for the mail.
  • You are making a positive impact on the environment. Going digital will allow us to save at least 17,000 sheets of paper and reduce our carbon footprint by 675 lbs. of CO2, annually.
  • You will help us reduce our administrative costs.

Digital Guest Passes

Each member household receives 4 digital guest passes to share with family and friends (or 8 for 2-year members). 

  • Digital passes cannot be printed. They are issued to your member record.
  • Each pass is applicable for one adult, one senior, or one child admission.
  • Redeem passes one at a time or all at once.
  • Digital passes cannot be given away. Guests must visit with you.
  • They are not valid during special events.
  • They are not replaceable. 

To redeem a guest pass, simply tell gatehouse staff that you have a guest with you. If you need to know the current status on passes, contact our Membership office between 10 am-5 pm, seven days a week, at (513) 965-4893  or membership@cincynature.org.

Membership Levels

Several levels are available to serve the needs of individuals, couples, and families. For only $23 more, you can purchase a +1 Guest level, which allows you to bring a guest anytime you visit. This flexible option is ideal for households with caretakers. If you would like to bring more than 1 Guest, consider a Steward, Cornerstone, Patron, or Krippendorf Society level.

The 2-Year membership is greener and more cost-effective. You get 10% off both years, you won’t receive renewal notices for 2 years, and you’ll get a member card good for 2 years. It helps us save paper, postage, and plastic!

Join us for a special tour starting at the Krippendorf Lodge, where you'll hear about our history and heritage. We’ll then trek along part of the Upland Trail where we'll see some of Rowe Woods’ best natural features. Along the way, you'll learn about our mission and how we work hard to protect and preserve our land and the wildlife that calls it home. Meet at the Krippendorf Lodge at our Rowe Woods location. Take on a Challenge

If I want to join Cincinnati Nature Center, can I use my admission toward the cost of the membership?

Yes, you can use your admission toward the cost of a membership. Purchase a membership within 14 days of your visit and the TOTAL price may be applied (up to price of membership). Only one receipt may be applied. Cannot be redeemed online. Remit receipt with membership form and membership balance for redemption.

How long does my Cincinnati Nature Center membership last?

When you purchase the 1-Year option, it is a one-year membership from the day you purchase it through the end of the month the following year. When you purchase the 2-Year option, it is two-year membership from the day you purchase it through the end of the month 2 years following.

My organization serves more than 12 clients. How can we accommodate more people?

The Community Membership admits groups up to 12 people per visit. This includes your employees and clients present. Consider bringing different clients with each visit. To accommodate a larger group, you will need to purchase additional daily admission at the regular rate. Or alternatively, you could purchase an additional Community Membership for your organization.

How and when will I get my digital member card?

You will receive your digital member card by email. For this reason, we must have a valid email address for you. The email will come from membership@cincynature.org. Please add this email to your safe senders list. You should receive your digital member card within five business days. If you don’t, please contact the Membership Office as soon as possible.

This land is a nature preserve, home for the flora and fauna that live upon it. It's up to you to be a mindful steward of the land, so our resources are protected and habitat is preserved now and for generations to come. Help us to protect our natural treasures. 

Trail Rules

Learn how you can enjoy your time outdoors responsibly and with minimum impact to the land by reading and respecting our trail rules. You can also find these rules on our trail maps and kiosks on site. 

Pet Rules

We welcome leashed and registered pets on our trails! We expect members to protect this privilege by following our pet rules. You can also find these posted on our trail maps and on site. These rules are in place to keep visitors, wildlife, and pets safe, and ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable hiking experience for everyone.

How many cards will I receive?

Individual members receive 1 card. Membership for Two members receive 2 cards. Family, Steward, Cornerstone, Patron and Krippendorf Society members receive 2 cards unless there is only 1 adult listed in the household. If there is only 1 adult, then only 1 card will be provided.

Do I need my member card to get in?

Yes! At Rowe Woods, present your member card to Gatehouse staff along with a photo ID to gain entry, and show your card to The Nature Shop staff in order to receive your 10% member discount. At Long Branch Farm & Trails, you will need your member card at the entry gate to gain member-only access. We also ask that you show a photo ID along with your member card.

What happens if the member card is misplaced?

The member card is required to access Cincinnati Nature Center property. Your organization is responsible for the member card. A replacement card can be provided for a $5 fee. Call the Membership Office at (513) 965-4893 to order and pay for a replacement.

Please be mindful of our fluctuating grounds hours, applicable for both locations. Hours are determined by sunrise and sunset time tables. For your safety, we do not allow hiking after hours.

Will I still need to show my photo ID with my digital card?

Yes. We ask for a photo ID because it helps maintain the value of your membership. Cincinnati Nature Center is a non-profit organization that relies on membership dues and admission fees to support the conservation work we do. Membership is intended for one designated household, and we allow admission for the adult(s) named on the member card. We want to keep our membership prices affordable for everyone. If we allowed friends to share memberships, our revenue would decrease, and we would have to raise our prices.

Applying Daily Admission Toward Your Membership

Come check us out for a day! CLICK HERE to purchase nonmember admission. Then, after a fabulous day of adventure and fun, you can apply your admission fee toward the cost of a membership. Certain restrictions do apply:

  • You must purchase a membership within 14 days of your visit.
  • The total price may be applied, but only up to price of membership.
  • Only one receipt may be applied.
  • It cannot be redeemed online.
  • Only general admission fees may be applied. Program and event fees do not apply.

To apply admission to a membership sale, visit the Membership Desk in the Rowe Visitor Center (open daily 10 am-5 pm) or call the Membership Office at (513) 965-4893 and provide the Sales Order # on your admission receipt.

 

Why do I have to show a photo ID?

We ask for a photo ID because it helps maintain the value of your membership and to manage visitor impact on our lands. Cincinnati Nature Center is a non-profit organization that relies on membership dues and admission fees to support the conservation work we do. Membership is intended for one designated household and we allow admission for the adult(s) named on the member card. We want to keep our membership prices affordable for everyone. If we allowed friends to share memberships, our revenue would decrease and we would have to raise our prices.

Can I include my grandchildren on my membership?

Family, Steward, Patron, Cornerstone and Krippendorf Society memberships include all grandchildren under age 21.

How do I renew my organization’s Community Membership?

The application is required each year. One month before expiration, the Membership Manager will contact your organization and inform you that it is time to re-apply.

Do the digital member cards work on all smartphones?

Your digital member card is supported on iPhones (iOS 6 and newer) and all Android devices.

Who can use my membership?

Who may use your membership depends on your level of membership:

  • Individual level: 1 named adult
  • Membership for Two: 2 named adults living in the same household
  • Family, Steward, Cornerstone, Patron, Krippendorf Society: 2 named adults and any children under age 21 living in the same household, or any grandchildren under age 21
  • If your membership includes any Guest benefits, a named member must be present for the guest to receive free admission.

Can member children visit Cincinnati Nature Center when a parent is not present?

Yes. Children should present their family’s membership card at the Front Gate to receive free admission. Children under the age of 14 must be with an adult chaperone, if not a parent.

How do I add my digital member card to my smartphone?

For iPhone

iPhones have a native app called Apple Wallet. Access your digital member card email from your iPhone, click the “Download Member Card” button, then “Add to Wallet,” and then “Add.” Your digital member card will download to your Apple Wallet and can be accessed at any time.

For Android

Android users need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play. After you have the app, access your digital member card email from your smartphone and click the “Download Member Card” button. The digital card will go to Wallet Passes and can be accessed at any time.

What is a +1 Guest level?

For only $23 more, a +1 Guest level allows you to bring 1 Guest anytime you visit.

How would I include a childcare provider on my membership?

Please purchase the Family + 1 Guest membership. When a caregiver accompanies your child, your child is the member and the caregiver is the Guest.

Can I download my digital member card to the Google Pay (Gpay) app?

If you have the Google Pay app on your smartphone, you may be prompted to add your digital member card to this app. You may opt to use Google Pay instead of Wallet Passes. Google Pay is compatible with both Android phones and iPhones. Open the email directly from your smartphone, click on the “Download” button, and click “Add to Gpay.” A preview will appear. Click on “Save to Gpay.” In some cases, Google Pay might ask you to log in so you can save it to an account. Please log in to continue. Your digital member card will be saved and can be accessed at any time.

What if I am a single parent and want to purchase a membership?

The Family level membership is for every kind of family. It provides valuable benefits—discounts on our children’s programs and CincyNature Camps—which ultimately “pay off” throughout the year. If you are a single parent with one child, you may purchase the Individual and +1 Guest membership, though it will not include the additional benefits (mentioned above) which the Family membership provides.

Does my membership include guest passes?

l memberships receive four digital guest passes so that you may share your love of nature with family and friends. Guest passes are now digital as a way for us to reduce our carbon footprint, and our members no longer have to worry about forgetting or losing their guest passes ever again. Each digital guest pass is applicable for one adult or one child admission and your guest must visit with you. Guest passes are not valid during special events and they are not replaceable.

How does my spouse/partner receive a digital member card?

If your spouse/partner did not receive a digital member card, then it’s because we do not have an email address for that person. Please contact the Membership Office to provide a valid email address. Alternatively, you may share your digital card. Here’s how:

For iPhone

Navigate to the back of the card (tap the three dots button on the front), then tap on the share (a square with an arrow coming out of the top) button at the top right to send the card to your spouse/partner.

For Android
Navigate to the back of the card (tap on the lower case i in a circle on the front) and use the “Share Pass” button to send the card to your spouse/partner.

Once you opt to share, you will see different sharing options (email, text, AirDrop, etc.). We recommend that you share through email. If you experience any error messages when attempting to share, please contact the Membership Office.

As always, we will request a photo ID upon entry to ensure that only named members are using your digital member card.

Can I lend my membership card to a friend to use?

Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. Cincinnati Nature Center records all members as they enter our property. This important safety measure allows us to know who is on our property at all times and enables us to react during an emergency. We ask kindly that you refrain from the misuse of your membership card. The Nature Center is a private, nonprofit organization that relies on the support of our members.

Can I bring my dog to the Nature Center?

Cincinnati Nature Center is loved by dogs and their owners, and we work hard to keep it that way. Members can enjoy their experience at the Nature Center by respecting the Pet Policy we’ve put in place to keep our visitors, wildlife, and pets safe. Members enjoy free admission for dogs while nonmembers must pay $2.00 per dog.

I downloaded my digital member card, but I can’t find it.

For iPhone

The card will automatically download to your Apple Wallet app. Check the app for your card. Scroll through your other digital cards—it may be hiding.

For Android

You may not be able to find your digital member card because you don’t have the Wallet Passes app. You’ll need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play prior to downloading your card.

What if I want to visit the Nature Center before I receive my membership card?

You will be able to use your membership immediately. If you purchase your membership online you will receive a confirmation email, which allows you immediate access to our grounds. If you purchase your membership at Rowe Woods, you will receive a temporary membership card. Both may be used until you receive your permanent card in the mail.

How do I replace a lost or damaged membership card?

Contact the Membership Office by phone, or see a Visitor Services staff person at the Rowe Visitor Center during your next visit, and we will replace your card. There is a $5 processing fee for each replacement card. 

I have a teenage child who visits the Nature Center on their own. Can I share my digital member card with them?

If your child is 21 years or younger and you have a membership that includes admission for children (Family, Steward, Cornerstone, Patron, Krippendorf Society), you may share your digital member card with your child. If your child is 22 years or older, then your child needs to purchase their own membership.

Can I use my Cincinnati Nature Center membership at other nature centers?

Yes! Cincinnati Nature Center members are entitled to reciprocal benefits at nearly 150 nature centers nationwide. View the most current list at Association of Nature Center Administrators website. We strongly recommend you contact the nature center you want to visit prior to your trip, as the reciprocal list is subject to change.

I'm interested in your 2 Year membership, however I am also facing the possibility of relocating. I'd hate to not be able to use the second year. If I moved, could I transfer the second year of membership to a friend or family member?

Cincinnati Nature Center memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. You would not be able to transfer any part of a 2 Year membership. If you relocate, it would be the perfect opportunity to use your reciprocal benefits at other nature centers near your new home. As a Nature Center member, you are entitled to reciprocal benefits to over 150 nature centers nationwide. Click here to review the list.

I have a childcare provider who visits the Nature Center with my children. Can I share my digital member card with them?

Member children 21 years and younger may visit the Nature Center with a childcare provider when you have a membership with guest benefits. The Family + 1 Guest membership is ideal for families with a childcare provider.

Steward, Cornerstone, Patron, and Krippendorf Society provide additional guest benefits. When you have one of these memberships, you may share your digital member card with the childcare provider. They can only visit with the children who are part of your member household. If they wish to visit by themselves or with family, they must purchase their own membership.

I already renewed my membership but I just got a renewal notice in the mail. Did you not receive my renewal?

If you recently renewed your membership, please disregard any renewal notice that follows. Although we process renewals as quickly as possible, there is a chance you may receive a renewal notice before we process your payment in our system.

What if I have a change of address?

Please contact the Membership Office with your new address by phone or email.

What do I do if I forget my phone or my phone battery is dead? How do I get in?

If you forgot your phone or if your phone is dead, then you can show a driver’s license to verify your identification. Staff will look up your name in our member database, verify your membership status, and allow you free entry.

Is my Cincinnati Nature Center membership tax deductible?

Cincinnati Nature Center is a qualified, charitable organization. Your membership dues up to $75 may be reported as a charitable donation on Federal Schedule A. For membership payments in excess of $75, the Nature Center stresses that you check with a tax adviser for individual applicability.

How will my reciprocal benefits work when visiting other nature centers?

Cincinnati Nature Center members are entitled to reciprocal benefits at organizations that are members of the Association of Nature Center Administrators (ANCA), which consists of more than 150 nature centers nationwide. Please click here for the most up-to-date list of nature centers which offer you reciprocal benefits. Benefits vary from center to center and ANCA updates the list monthly. We recommend that you always call ahead to confirm your benefits. When you arrive, simply show your digital member card to receive your reciprocal benefits.

The number of children on my digital member card is incorrect. Can I get this updated?

Yes, we can update the number of children on your digital member card when your membership allows access to children 21 and younger. Please contact the Membership Office.

My name has changed/my name is spelled wrong on my digital member card. Can I get this updated?

Yes, we will update the name on your digital member card. Please contact the Membership Office.

My membership is not up for renewal yet, but I’d like to get a digital member card now. Can I get one?

No, the Membership Office is only issuing digital cards when a membership transaction takes place. One month prior to your expiration, the Membership Office will solicit you for your renewal. When you renew, you can choose to receive a digital member card at that time.

I want a digital member card and my spouse/partner wants a plastic member card. Can we get both kinds of cards?

No, unfortunately we cannot distinguish member cards by person, only by member household. You must choose one or the other; you cannot choose both.

Will my digital card update when I renew my membership?

The digital card will update when your membership information changes. For example, your expiration date will update when you renew your membership, and the membership level will update when you upgrade your membership. This means you only have to download the card once. Please allow five business days for this automatic update to occur.

I deleted an expired digital member card from my phone. Will you send me a new digital member card when I rejoin my membership?

Yes. Every year when you renew and you choose a Digital Member Card, we will email you a link to download a new digital member card. We will do this for your convenience in case you deleted the original card from your wallet.

If I choose a digital member card and I don’t like it, can I switch to a plastic member card at any time?

Yes. You may change your member card type, however this will incur a $5 member card replacement fee for each card getting replaced.

When I choose a digital member card, does this mean I’m subscribed to the digital Newsleaf as well?

No. When you choose a digital member card, this only applies to your member card preference. It does not apply to your choice in Newsleaf edition. If you wish to subscribe to the digital edition of Newsleaf to deepen your commitment to a greener membership, please contact the Membership Office.

I want to purchase a gift membership for a friend, but I don’t want you to send the digital member card until I tell you to. Can I request a send date?

No. Unfortunately, the software we use to generate digital member cards does not have this capability. If you choose a digital member card for a gift membership, we will email the digital member card to the gift recipient within five business days of purchase. If you want to manage the delivery of membership materials yourself, we advise that you choose a plastic member card for your gift recipient. Alternatively, you could purchase a membership gift certificate, and then your gift recipient can choose what kind of member card they want when they redeem the certificate.
