What a difference a year makes! Last year at this time, the world was basically shut down due to the pandemic. Cincinnati Nature Center was just opening up again after a state-mandated closure. We instituted limited reservations for admission to provide safe, outdoor experiences for our members during a time of great uncertainty.

Even as we head toward more normalcy with higher vaccination rates, nature continues to offer a place of refuge and respite—a place for people to enjoy solace and the beauty of the seasons. Nature is here for us and gives us inspirational places to improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

As we commemorate Earth Day in 2021, Cincinnati Nature Center unfortunately continues to be impacted by COVID-19 with restrictions preventing our full, pre-pandemic operation. We have lost revenue on event rentals, school field trips, and various educational programs. We are trying to make up for these losses through donations from members, grant awards, fundraising events, and corporate sponsorships.

In addition to supporting operating challenges due to the pandemic, our Earth Day fundraising campaign provides essential support for our organizational mission of Inspiring Conservation by helping to fund ongoing projects such as:

  • Trail maintenance
  • Habitat restoration
  • Native seed and plant propagation
  • Invasive species removal
  • EarthKids projects to reach under-resourced children
  • Educational programs for people of all ages

Please consider a gift to support Cincinnati Nature Center this spring! Your support is critical in helping the organization navigate the uncertainties and challenges of the pandemic and in providing ongoing funding for the work we have always done and continue to do. Your donation, at any level, continues to make the Nature Center an amazing place now and for generations to come.

With gratitude,

Jeff Corney
