Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN) Program

The Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN) Program is run through The Ohio State University Extension. Participants wishing to receive the OCVN certification complete 45 hours of instructor-led training and 40 hours of community service. Coursework includes training in geology, plants, insects, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, ecology, stewardship, and interpretation. Classes are offered throughout the state, and now include a host site at Cincinnati Nature Center’s Center for Conservation.  NEW: Teens aged 16 and 17 can join adults in this course.

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the Spring 2020 OCVN Cohort has been rescheduled to take place in June 2020. The classes will take place over some weekday evenings and during the day on weekends. See below for the full schedule. If you registered for the spring classes, you can transfer your registration to the summer classes. If you do not want to transfer, you can receive a refund. Please contact Sharon at srenner@cincynature.org to either transfer your registration or obtain your refund.
