Nature Knowledge Series: New and Improved!

As a response to our member survey we have moved this popular 7 pm Monday series to the second Thursday of the month. In addition, for the next three months the Nature Shop will be open extra hours, from 5-7 pm so attendees can visit the shop. Participants are welcome to use the Library/Bistro to eat their brown bag dinners prior to the program. We ask everyone to pre-register, but drop-ins are welcome. ONLY those who pre-register will be provided with our new child care. Children ages 6-12 may join Jonathan Swiger, Family Program Coordinator, for a free parallel program featuring activities for children. Member adult free; Nonmember adult $8, childcare $4.

This spring our series will focus on IMPROVING YOUR BACKYARD HABITAT:

Turn Your Yard into a Certified Wildlife Habitat

Thursday, May 10 7 pm

The National Wildlife Federation has been a leader in conservation, and for over 35 years they have offered a Certified Wildlife Habitat program for homeowners.  Learn what it takes from Bill Creasey, CNC's Chief Naturalist, to turn your yard into a mini-nature center.  Your family will benefit from the hours of enjoyment derived from observing, recording, even photographing some of the varied plants, birds, insects, and mammals that might stop by as you improve your home habitats.  And who knows when the day arrives to sell, it may be just the extra push to convince the buyer to make the deal.  "Yes this home is a Certified Backyard Habitat!" Pre-registration is required for those wishing to use child care.
