EARTHHUGGERS FALL 2010
Children ages 3-4 will look will explore the forest, ponds, and fields of Rowe Woods. The four-part series meets one Saturday each month for four months. This preschool enrichment program integrates nature into all aspects of the day, including outdoor adventure, indoor discovery time, math, literature, music, and art. Indoor discovery time, art exploration, a short hike and snack are provided.
(All children must be potty-trained)
September 18 Splash into Fall
Follow us to the pond where we will search for frogs, snails, turtles and other water creatures and learn about how they are preparing for winter. Hone your tracking skills as we examine the edge of hte pond to see who else has bee n visiting.
October 9 Preparing for Winter
Read a variation of one of Aesop's fables and then hike into the woods to discover how its insect inhabitants are preparing for the colder months ahead. Gather leaves for a fun autumn craft and then head back to the Nature Center to enjoy a snack made by the forest.
November 13 Nature's Palette
Bundle up and head outside as we search for reds, yellows, browns and purples at Rowe Woods and learn why the leaves change color. Then, collect twigs, pebbles, and colorful leaves before coming back to make some Andy Goldsworthy- inspired natural artwork.
December 11 Become a Birdwatcher
Bring your own binoculars and follow us on a bird watching scavenger hunt. Make a bird feeder to take home and practice your new bird watching skills long after the program is over.
