DISCOVERY FALL 2010
Suited to the expanding interests and increased hiking ability of the age group, Discovery provides children ages 7-9 with an introductory hands-on look into a variety of natural history topics. The bulk of class time is spent outside on moderate hikes in search of wonders of nature.
4-session series.
September 18 Aqua Adventurers - Discover what's hiding under the leaves at the bottom of the pond. We'll study the amphibians, insects, reptiles, and other animals that call the pond home and figure out how they prepare for winter.
October 9 Going Nuts in the Woods - Big changes are happening in the forest this time of year. Come out and look for seeds, nuts, and the animals who eat them. You may even be able to find a nutty snack for yourself!
November 13 Life Under a Log - A dead log contains far more life than a living tree and provides food and shelter while it turns back into soil. Grab your magnifying glass and come ready to roll over logs to find animals who thrive in the dark and damp.
December 11 Winter Survival Skills - Bundle up and come search for the plants and animals who stay active all winter long! Learn how they do it and maybe pick up some tips for yourself.
